You need to be careful with the following cards. They work well as part of Commander, so we`re not going to ban them, but they`re likely to give your gaming group a headache or lead to problematic games if you`re not careful. Use them responsibly and remember that if you play cards that your opponents do not like to play against, they will probably no longer want to play with you: if the seal has the shape of an acorn (as seen in the image above), then this card is exclusive to casual games and cannot be played in Commander. This seal corresponds to the old cards lined with silver. Killer Cosplay is an example of such a casual card. Until the next blacklist announcement (January 15), money-lined cards are legal in Commander. So far, cards with silver borders will only be legal for about six weeks. Unfinity is MTG`s fourth installation of Un-Sets, after Unglued, Unhinged and Unstable. What I like about this little window of legality is that it`s just long enough for people to try out the new cards and get a good idea of the craziness that the sets bring to the table, but then everything goes back to normal. And those who enjoyed the Un-Sets in their Commander can keep a deck together and meet regularly or sporadically like-minded people and go wild. Each card with an acorn-shaped holo-stamp at the bottom is functionally a card lined with silver.

Just like cards lined with silver, these are considered too crazy for normal magic and are banned in most formats. All of the old Un-Set cards reprinted in Unfinity have replaced their silver edges with the acorn stamp, as has Unhinged`s Water Gun Baloon Game. The only color borders that are legal in major Magic formats are black, the most common, and white, which was used in older Magic sets to indicate whether a card was a reprint. The silver-lined cards are magic cards from Un-Sets, a set of complementary jokes originally printed in 1998 with the release of Unglued. Their new frontier is meant to mark their illegality in the tournament game as an unmistakable sign of others. I imagined times when some people would show up with a deck, and half would have silver cards and the other half would not, so half would play a different game than the other half. Sometimes everyone would be cool with that, but I can imagine that sometimes there will be a player who won`t be. My solution was that everyone was willing to bring a regular Commander deck and have one where they were cool with Silver Border games, and maybe switch between the two. The problem with this is that not everyone has more than one Commander deck. Mel doesn`t have a monopoly on pleasure; Vorthos also has many possibilities.

You can build artist material decks with Unhinged cards, faction decks for the five governments of Bablovia in Unstable, or a tribal squirrel deck that mixes black and silver border magic cards. In fact, finding black-edged maps that can tastefully support your silver edge themes is a deep exploration project for any Commander player. Combos are also an area where players have a strong opinion about what`s going well and what`s not. Silver edges do not change that. If your group doesn`t allow the murders of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and Restoration Angel, then don`t make additional varieties with By Gnome Means and Magosi, the water veil. Silver border cards are no excuse to renounce the social contract. Destroy the target player, whoa! Baron Von Count is definitely a villain who deserves the prize, and another commander where he could easily be the only card lined with money in your deck. Building a deck around the Baron requires special attention: when I build Commander decks, I usually make piles based on the cost of the converted mana and make decisions about what to play and what not to play based on a good mana curve. Technically, no, but it depends entirely on your playgroup. EDH should be a flexible format. Personally, I have no problem with people playing cards with silver edges as long as they first give everyone a clue.

Even though everyone thinks that some silver border cards are good, not everyone agrees on which ones are fun and which ones are cardboard disasters. Be specific in your desires and empathetic to the feelings of your playmates. Understand that not all cards that push the rules affect everyone in the same way. I thought that wasn`t the case, but after some Google research, it seems that the only money-lined cards that aren`t legal are the blacklisted ones. Commander is a casual format that encourages groups to relax and enjoy the magic. The purpose of this (temporary) legalization is to allow players to have fun with the cards they have. This is especially true for Unstable`s whimsical new maps, which will be released this Friday, December 8. This leads to an attempt to organize hostile games in advance.

But it doesn`t always work. Unfortunately, these undefined cards were quickly called “not real” magic cards and acted as a subset of the game that we didn`t really interact with.

Most players didn`t understand that they could play magic at the kitchen table, which completely destroyed the purpose of the set after the release events. In an attempt to fix this error, Wizards decided to switch to the acornellogo, which they believe will help fix this original error. A good Baron deck requires an extra step: first, you want to group the cards by having a number of one to five, then you want to choose your cards with a good mana curve but keep your number in balance. I`m sorry there`s a little too much casual in your competitive casual format! Here`s a tip from someone who goes to high-level events and plays Commander a lot: you don`t need to sign up for side events to play Commander! Personally, I`d rather only play disorganized Pickup Commander games at free gaming tables where nothing is at stake, and just have fun with the format and meet new people.
