Pro bono is an enduring feature of advocacy, restoring society to one of its enduring values and ensuring that those in need have a place to turn. FLC Horizons is run as an expression of faith in Jesus and has been operating since 2005 (formerly known as the Horizons Community Legal Centre). It provides over 1,000 hours of legal advice each year through its telephone counselling line and in-person counselling clinics in North West and South West Sydney. It also conducts a range of mediations and court proceedings for those who need them most. Horizon is a specialized legal aid clinic established to provide free legal advice on PIP and ESA issues to all members of the public. It was founded in 2016 by a group of students, some of whom were student counselors at the Queen Mary Legal Advice Clinic. We have experienced significant growth over the years by working with a growing number of law firms and hiring more pro bono consultants. The Horizons Family Law Centre (“SBB Horizons”) offers free, non-profit legal aid to people in crisis who have no other access to a lawyer. Her work is primarily in the area of parental conflict, primarily for families with high levels of deep-rooted conflict or a history of control and violence. Our goal is to advise the public on their legal situation and options.
Our goal is to offer a sophisticated and sophisticated niche service in terms of personal autonomy payments and employment and support allowances. FLC Horizons is listed as a charity providing legal services by Legal Aid NSW and is recognised by the Australian Revenue Authority as a recipient of tax-deductible donations. We are passionate about helping those in need by providing free initial legal advice. Our initiative was motivated by the drastic reduction of the government`s budget for legal aid, which means that many people do not have access to justice. Therefore, we felt it was an ethical obligation of our profession to support the public, with a particular focus on the London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Newham.
